Vineyard Winemaker Simon Waghorn first released this Awatere-focused bottling in 2005, blending fruit from vineyards on both the north and south sides of the Awatere River. The valley's clay soils, cooler and windier climate, and later harvest give a more herbal, leafy character than the tropical, thiol-driven Wairau Valley fruit most people associate with Marlborough.

Wine Herbal and grassy, with crushed shells, coriander leaf, lemon zest, and brine, backed by white peach, apple, and salty, wet-stone minerality. Crisp and dry, with a persistent, savoury finish.
