Northland is probably one of New Zealand’s most under appreciated wine regions however it does have a history of producing wine that dates back to Samuel Marsden planting Syrah in 1818 (pre-Treaty of Waitangi) and it also has a track record of producing some exceptional wines, especially Syrah. Enter Kerikeri native, Jake Dromgool who moved back to Northland to manage The Landing vineyard in 2014 and began to plant his own vineyard in 2015.

This is an unusual blend, being predominantly Petit Verdot, an extremely tannic Bordeaux variety which is then blended with Syrah. It is black, spicy, powerful and reminds us of the texture of Cornas, one of the great Northern Rhone Syrah appellations.
