Barbera 100%

Italy, Piedmont

In 1946, Clemente Guasti founded a winery in the heart of Nizza Monferrato and started to produce the highest quality wines in the region. In his first year, he started noting the origin of the grapes on his labels, an innovation linking it to the concept of “cru” and the importance of owned vineyards. He was the first to bottle a 100% Barbera “cru”, the “Barbera delle Cascine Nicesi” which is still the pride of the House, bearing the name of Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG “Cascina Boschetto Vecchio”.

Clemente, as innovator, was also the first one in the region to adopt the Martinotti – Charmat method to produce sparkling wines. His achievements were recorded in a film by the RAI (Italian Radio Television) in 1958 titled “Lo Spumante Italiano” (Italian sparkling wine).

This wine represents the family's secret traditions since 1946. Aged 18 months in oak barrel and six months in bottle, it's an excellent wine to preserve. It has complex and intense notes of violets, red roses, tart cherry, ripe raspberries and blackberries, vanilla and tobacco with a hint of oak. Medium to full bodied, dry, smooth and rounded with great acidity, low tannins, minerality, great balance and a long finish.
