Cattarrato

Italy, Siciliy

Donnafugata, Italian for "woman on the run", is one of the world's most prestigious wineries, founded on art, literature, music and wine.

Established in 1983 by Giacomo Rollo and his wife Gabriella, the name came from the famous Sicilian novel "Il Gattopardo" where Queen Maria Caroline fled Napoleon in Naples and found refuge where Donnafugata's vineyards are today. Gabriella herself abandoned teaching to follow her dream of tending vines in Siciliy and so the connection to circumstance, place and history began.

Cattarato is the most widely planted white grape in Siciily, characterised by a fresh and fragrant bouquet with fruity and floral notes. A very versatile wine, ideal with fish and vegetarian courses.

Anthilia was the first wine conceived by Donnafugata and pays homage to the ancient, civilisation of the land. It depicts the face of a woman, mysterious and fleeting like that of the Elymian people who once lived in the city of Entella in Roman times.
