Forager Pinot Noir 2022
Forager Pinot Noir 2022
From talented Greystone winemaker, Dom Maxwell, Forager is his own private project and 2022 marks his tenth vintage.
Frosts wiped out the 2021 crop, and so 2022 was a year of recovery and also more intensive vineyard management as rain and high humidity brough more growth to the vines. Many hands in the vineyard provided the raw ingredients for a vibrant and expressive wine.
The fruit was hand-picked in early April and left outside in the vines to ferment with a full 28 days on skins, before being transported to the winery for a gentle pressing to French oak barrels. Aged 15 months before bottling without fining or filtration.
- Youthful and bright with an enticing bouquet of plums and cherry, some red apple skin and a mineralised clay and stone quality
- Dry and equally fruity on the palate, with a chalky unfiltered mouthfeel, and a gentle savoury quality that emerges as the wine opens out
- Best drinking 2025-2030
- 93+ Points Cam Douglas
