Gustave Lorentz Grand Cru Kanzlerberg Pinot Gris 2015
- Region: Alsace
- Sub-Region: Bergheim / Grand Cru Kanzlerberg
- Varieties: Pinot Gris
Vineyard Kanzlerberg is the smallest of the 51 Alsace Grand Crus, consisting of only 3 hectares of heavy grey marl and limestone. The Lorentz family is the majority owner of this exceptional site, managing it with organic viticulture. The vineyard's mineral-rich soil and south-facing aspect produce low-yielding, concentrated fruit with immense structural power.
Wine A profound and opulent expression from a landmark vintage. The 2015 Kanzlerberg Pinot Gris is a "solar" wine, showcasing a rich, oily texture and high viscosity typical of this warm year. It offers a complex bouquet of yellow plums, honey, and a hint of truffle-smoke. The palate is voluminous yet masterfully balanced by a core of mineral acidity, finishing with great length and savory depth.
Food Pairings
- Pan-seared foie gras with fig jam
- Spicy lobster or crayfish curry
- Roasted pheasant with earthy root vegetables
Accolades (2015)
