Vineyard The flagship Riesling from Pegasus Bay, estate-grown on free-draining, north-facing Waipara terraces in the lee of the Teviotdale Range. The vines are close to 40 years old, and a large share are on their own roots. A hot flowering gave a bumper fruit set that needed heavy crop thinning. A wet January and a cooler autumn followed, and careful picking decisions kept the flavours delicate. The wine was handled gently to retain a little natural carbon dioxide.

Wine Shimmering pale gold, with citrus blossom, elderflower and green apple, plus quince, kumquat, lime sherbet and faint minerals. The palate is opulent and bright, with unobtrusive sweetness balanced by invigorating acidity. It finishes long and moreish, with precision and tension.
