Chianti Classico is one of the most noble wines in the world and carries the name of the Earth from which it is born, respecting strict standards that protect and guarantee quality. It covers 70000 hectares of territory between the cities of Siena and Florence and embraces 8 municipalities: Greve in Chianti, Barberino Val d’elsa, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and San Casciano in Val di Pesa in the province of Florence; Castellina in Chianti, Gaiole, Radda, Castelnuovo Berardenga and part of the town of Poggibonsi in the province of Siena.
The reserve requires a minimum ageing of 24 months, with 3 of those in bottle. Compared to the Chianti Classico, the reserve is a nobler wine, has a greater finesse, prolonged odor and cleaner taste due to the quality of grapes and extended ageing. Depending on the vintage, harvest and cultivation of the vineyard, only 20% of the Chianti Classico becomes reserve.
On the palate this wine displays relatively dry and harmonious notes, with high tannis that become increasingly velvety over time.
