The Marlborist Pinot Noir 2022

Vineyard Sourced from vines higher in the valley on fully north-facing hillside sites with clay soils — a departure from the gravelly terraces more typical of Marlborough Pinot — planted with superior Burgundian clonal material. Majority destemmed and aged in French barrique (13–15% new) for a year, followed by five months in tank.
Wine An enticingly light and pretty Pinot Noir with cranberry and crushed redcurrant, a touch of snap, and happy strawberry-rose character, plus hibiscus notes and a certain savouriness. The better clonal material brings extra flesh, spice, and mid-palate as the wine unfurls.
